Hi all. My name is Joanna Carrasco and I am the creator of this blog, Dependent on God. As it says on the home page, I have always wanted to write a blog and I have always started the process but I never finished it. This time, God has shown me that this is something that I have to do. Not only for myself but for others as well, to teach others how to be dependent on Him. I am going to be honest, I have not been dependent on God in a REALLY long time but just having gone through so many things, having people leave my life, God shows me that He is the sure thing in my life that will never leave.
Proverbs 3:5-8, "Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight. Be not wise in your own eyes; fear the LORD, and turn away from evil. It will be healing to your flesh and refreshment to your bones." (ESV)
I did not grow up in a Christian household, I never knew how to be dependent on things other than the people who are around me. When I accepted Jesus, I was 20 years old. I already formed an "identity" and still tried to be someone I was not. I was still dependent on others around me rather than being dependent on God himself. I was trying to find out who I was rather than letting God show me who I am.
In Proverbs 3:5-8, which is the basis of this blog, the chapter is written under Trust in the LORD with All Your Heart. This is what we, as the children of God, must do in order to fully depend on Him. We must fully trust Him throughout everything that we have been through, are going through, or what will go through. We must understand that God wants us to depend on Him, He wants us to trust Him, and it is going to be difficult. Trusting in the LORD is necessary for us and it is closely related to fearing the LORD. "Fearing the LORD" means to respect, obey, and worship ONLY God, therefore, we must depend on HIM only. We must not "lean on our own understanding" because this is what it means to trust the LORD when we lean on Him. By trusting and depending on God, he will "make our paths straight." He is our light and He already knows all the plans He has for us. If we choose to follow our own path, are we really trusting God? This is what our basis should be on, depending on God alone.
If we continue to depend on God, it will bring us healing from everything that has happened because we now know that our foundation is built from Christ alone. God wants us to be sure of Him, to trust in Him, and to Depend on Him.
I hope this blog fills you with many blessings as I continue to learn how to depend on God and as God continues to allow me to show each of you how to depend on Him as well. God bless you all.
